Historic Preservation in Princeton

Historic Preservation Commission, Princeton IL

In 2017, Princeton's North and South business districts were given approval for inclusion on the National Register of Historic Places. Main Street is at the heart of our historic community; a place for commerce and a place for coming together. Princeton's unique division of a north end and south end business district sets us apart from other communities. From Park Avenue to Elm Place, the names alone suggest the ambitions and determination of earlier generations to keep our community prosperous and competitive. Irreplaceable architectural treasures of nineteenth century homes and commercial buildings are the focus of our Main Street.
