City Council

Responsibilities

The City Council for Princeton consists of five members (four Council Members and the Mayor) elected at-large by the residents of Princeton. The City Council is responsible for enacting legislation, establishing policies, and providing guidance and direction for actions that impact the quality of life in the City. The regular meetings of the City Council are held at the City on the first and third Mondays of each month at 6:00 p.m. The Mayor presides at all meeting and votes on all items. All meetings are open to the general public.

Any person willing to address the Council at a Council meeting must notify City Hall (815-875-2631) by noon on Wednesday prior to the meeting to provide their name, address, and the topic they wish to address in order to be included on the agenda for that meeting. A public comment opportunity is also provided at the beginning of each meeting, during which any member of the public may address the Council for up to two minutes.
