Swanson files for mayor, seeks rematch with Quiram
Council has two candidates file for four positions

PRINCETON — There will be a race for Princeton mayor and two city council seats in the April 2 Consolidated Election.

Ray Swanson, a current city council member, filed petitions for mayor and will run against Joel Quiram, who also filed petitions last week to get on the ballot.

This will be the second consecutive election the two candidates have run against one another for the mayor’s seat.

In the 2015 election, Swanson and Quiram ran for mayor along with former city council member Bob Warren. Quiram won with 1,063 votes to Swanson’s 481 votes and Warren’s 256 votes.

Four people have also submitted petitions for the two open seats on the council. The seats are held by Jerry Neumann and Laura Favia, who are among the four who have submitted petitions in hopes of being re-elected, along with newcomers Robin Swift and Hector Gomez.

The petition filing period ended Monday, Nov. 26.
