Message from the Fire Chief

The Princeton Fire Department provides Firefighting, Rescue, Emergency Medical Services, and Public Education, to the residents and visitors of Princeton, IL and surrounding rural districts. The Princeton Fire Department was formed on February 9, 1861 and had an operating budget of $400.  Today, we serve over 10,000 people and maintain an operating budget of $1.8 million which provides fundamental services to our citizens and customers. Our first-due fire response area covers about 80 square miles and first due ambulance response area covers about 225 square miles.  All fire and emergency medical response originates from one firehouse.  Our current urban and rural ISO Public Protection Classifications are 4 and 9 respectively.

Princeton Fire Department is staffed by dedicated professionals available to respond to calls for service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
